
Please fill in your class interests for PC AND MAC CLASSES: on the forms provided on the bulletin board found in the hallway of the Electronics Room. Classes will be scheduled on a ON_DEMAND basis.
The classroom uses computers with the Windows XP operating system. Lap top users are welcome as well as Mac Users, but please contact the instructor and notify them in advance that you will be using a Mac or laptop.

The Electronics Club offers classes at all skill levels. Classes offered during the season depend upon the interest level for the specific classes. The following provide an overview of the classes that are taught or are available to be taught. If other classes are desired, the Club will look for an Instructor for that subject.
Signup for classes is on the Classes Bulletin Board in the hallway of the Electronics Building. Classes are 1 1/2 hour long for each session. Classes will consist of one or three sessions. Note: most computer classes are limited to six students. After sign up please pay as soon as possible as Alternates will be phoned if not payed by the evening prior to the class.
The Electronics Club is always seeking instructors for the listed classes and other classes. If you have a skill that you would like to share by teaching a class (one listed or one that you would like to offer), please contact the Director of the area where you would like to teach (i.e. PC, Mac, Amateur Radio, Video).

Windows XP COMPUTER CLASSES DESCRIPTIONS BELOW: (Classes are also open to MAC computer users who have the same application software on their computers.)
Orientation Required for NEW members - FREE, takes less than one hour. Scope: provides what you need to know about how to use the computers and related assets including a) how to access your e-mail, b) how to get onto the Internet, c) how to print to the networked printers, d) where things are in the building that you will need, e) where to purchase CDs and diskettes, f) how the fax service works and much more.
35mm SLIDES TRANSFERRED TO CD OR DVD--- one-on-one instruction for typically one hour to one & half hours. Contact the instructor Don Sherry, for a schedule time. $10 per hour Learn how to use the VO Club's Nikon Scanner for Slides. You will need to follow the the preparation process requested (see binder beside computer in the MAC room.). You will also use the CD/DVD burning software Sonic "RecordNow" Version 7.
Address Labels and Envelopes Using Microsoft Word 2003 Choose from dozens of styles and popular sizes to make personalized address lables, decorative stickers. Print a mailing address and resurn address on envelopes of different sizes.
Return Address Labels Envelopes and Business Cards - This class will teach you to do return labels as well as a choice of labels from dozens of styles and popular sizes to make personalized address labels, decorative stickers, etc. Print a mailing address and return address on envelopes of different sizes. The software used will be Microsoft Word.
Individal Labels from a Table using Microsoft Word Make a sheet of labels from an address file in a table format. Print out individual lables for invitation, Christmas cards, parties, etc. Set up a table a complete a mail merge.
BASICS AND BEYOND: This class will incorporate all the following classes: · Keyboard and Mouse Beyond Basics · E-Mail I · E-Mail II · Basic Word Processing · File Management · Internet I The intent of the class is to maximize your comfort level in using the computer for the basic needs of typing letters, meeting announcements, sending e-mails with pictures and attachments, and finding, printing, saving and sending information from the internet. The class will build skills sequentially. We will download from the internet and cover some basic computer maintenance.
Basic Computer Skills using Windows XP Learn to move around in programs and in Windows
Digital Imagery Level 1-Learn to enhance and manipulate your photos with the program Print Shop 15. Included are how to rotate, crop, fix flaws, brightness and repair flaws. Also introduction to layers and making a collage.
Digital Imagery Level 2-How to enhance your pictures using the program Adobe Photoshop Elements.
eBAY PROCESS - Focus will be on how to sell your items on e-bay. You will also learn how to research and find bargains.
E-mail - Level 2 Learn to receive and send attachments, including pictures. Learn copy and paste, to include a web page address, and forward mail without the garbage.
E-Mail - Level 1 Setup your own e-mail account and the basics of corresponding via e-mail. How to send and receive e-mail.
Excel Q&A -This is a non-structured class where Excel users pose questions and answers are demonstrated.
Excel Spreadsheet- This is an introduction to spreadsheets using Microsoft's software called Excel Version #2003.
Internet Level 1 - The Basics You will be given basic instruction on how to use the address bar vs. search engine vs subject search and use of the icons in the tool bar (i.e. how to create favorietes and file folders).
Internet Level 2 - For Fun Expand the basic skills, explore special-purpose Websites, learn more about Search Engines and become comfortable with surfing.
Keyboard and Computer Basics -for beginner and still learning How to best handle both-including single/double-click, click-and-drag, highlighting, left-and-right mouse button usage, scrolling, drop-down menues, menu bar and task bar, copy-paste.
Make and Take a Greeting Card with cutouts and personalization Uses Print Shop 15 software.
PHOTOSTORY Add stunning special effects, soundtracks, and your own voice narration to your slide shows. Then, personalize them with titles and captions. Bring your cd with digitize pictures to class.
Quicken-Deluxe 2006 Learn to keep checking accounts up-to-date and track spending. Track investments, taxes, budgets and learn how to reduce your debt.
Review of Basics for the Intermediate User General review of computer basics; scope set by students.
Tables Make Table in a document by inserting or creating you own, adding data, colors and alignments. Useful for creating forms.. Microsoft Word 2003.
Word Processing - Level 1 Getting started using Microsoft Word 2003 word processor. Includes; writing and correcting text, spell check, cut and paste, drawing, using clipart, toolbars, highlighting, saving and printing.
Word Processing - Level 2 Using Microsoft Word 2003 learn formatting of pages, paragraphs, and pictures; learn to copy and move text, learn bullets and numbering, learn tabs, indent, borders and shading, learn headers and footers and lots more.
Word Processing - Level 3 The student will use the program Microsoft Word for Windows 2003 to learn: 1) all about envelopes: printing, inserting bar codes, and formatting, 2) how to make table databases and how to work with them, 3) how to mail merge from the tables to address labels, 4) how to design quality documents using watermarks and templates and much more.
Greeting Cards using Printshop 15 Learn to create beautiful and professional greeting cards. Includes graphics, photos, text and ready made designs. How to Create Business Cards and Labels in Printshop 15 and in Word Learn to do decorative return-address labels as well as business cards.
Streets and Trips Learn to find an address, an intersection, select a route & get directions with points of interest along the route. Creat pushpins, larn to save and print your selections.
Google Earth (replaces Streets and Trips class) Learn to find an address, an intersection, select a route & get directions with points of interest along the route. See the world from the camera mounted on a satellite. How to Buy a Computer Learn what you need for what you want to do, learn the terms (e.g. RAM, Gigabytes, USB 2.0), so you can buy what you really need.
File Management You will learn how to look into “My Computer” and find where you have put your pictures and files and to move them into folders. You will save files/pictures to folders. You will learn how to retrieve the pictures, how to organize, rename, and delete your pictures.
Digital Camera and Photography- This class is designed to help those who are planning to buy a camera or already have a camera and want to learn how to get started using it in experiencing all its aspects of digital photography. How to get stated using the camera itself. This class does not teach tranfer of pictures to computer.
Digital Camera II - Picture Transer from Digital Camera - Learn to transfer your pictures from your camera to the computer and then burn them to a CD using Microsoft XP operating system. Bring your camera memory card.
CD Burning - Learn to backup and store data files and picture files on CDs ( This topic is taught in the above listed class.
Printshop 15 Overview -will introduce many of the tools that you can use to make labels, business card, calendars, greeting cards, etc. This will include working with graphics, borders, healine tex, and special effects. Learn how to create special projects with graphics, photos, text and even using templates for ready-made projects. How to do Columns in Word -Learn the many ways to use columns, format them, change the number, set the width, import data, insert cip art/pictures, align. How to do Tables in Word-Learn how to use this powerful but poorly understood feature in Word (may be what you need for your column look). Online Banking -Learn the tools to track your finances online.
MAC COMPUTER CLASSES
All of the above classes are open to Mac Computer users. Please notify the teacher (see phone number on sign up sheet) that you will be bring your Mac laptop or if you need to have a Mac Computer moved to the classroom so that you may participate in the class.

MAC SAVY CLASS: Clients will practive how to turn on and off, maximize and minimize and delete work. Folks will also practive getting online and read e-maill or surf the web. Printing a selected passage, saving your work, and returning a frozen window to working order will also be practiced. How to safely protect personal information will be explained. Browsers equivalent to Microsoft's Explorer will be identified and used.
